Care and attention have gone into every detail of our home – and we think the best way to appreciate it is to come and experience it for yourself.

Completed in 2013, The William Wilberforce Care Home is a purpose-built care facility of the highest standards. Designed by award-winning architects Brierley Groom, our home is unique yet historically inspired, and set on the site of a former boarding house in the grounds of Pocklington School, once attended by the great philanthropist William Wilberforce himself. Our traditional style is reflected in the Yorkshire bricks that house a luxurious interior designed to mix modern, Victorian and traditional décor. Plush furniture and stylish interiors create a calm and peaceful environment that feels more like a hotel than a care home.

Each morning, our residents wake up in stylish, modern-classical rooms designed to mix light and space with comfort and functionality. All rooms have a full en-suite bathroom with shower and offer individually controlled heating, Wi-Fi, plus Sky TV, telephone and nurse call points. Residents on the ground floor enjoy private patios overlooking our grounds and the surrounding countryside.

Communal spaces

A variety of lounges and dining areas make the William Wilberforce a place that can meet the flexible needs of our residents. Our two cosy libraries offer calm retreat from larger social lounges, while our coffee bar and bistro provides a light and airy place to welcome visiting family and friends or simply enjoy tea coffee and a daily selection of cakes with other residents. Aside from televisions in lounges, we have a surround sound cinema on the top floor in which we host regular film nights.

On the outside, expertly landscaped gardens provide and tranquil and diverting environment for all to enjoy – crafted lawns, subtle use of walls, paths and flowerbeds provide a calm and beautiful place to wander, think and relax. Residents can get involved in the gardening should they wish to, or simply enjoy views of the fountains and gliding field from our seated terrace.
